How to Talk To Your Children
This is an uncertain time. Children are looking for adults to be calm and to help them feel secure. That, of course, can be difficult. Hopefully, these resources will make this situation a little easier for your family.
Calm |
When explaining difficult topics to children, it is best to be gentle and calm. They are looking at your reaction and will follow your lead. If you are panicking, they will panic. If you are calm, they will be calm.

Why Are Schools Closed? |
You can say to them something like, "The Coronavirus can make people sick and it is not hard to catch so our governor and the superintendent of Mayfield Schools want us to be safe and stay home so we can't catch it from others. We are really lucky to have our governor and our superintendent care about us so much that they want us to be healthy." Answer their questions gently and truthfully without scaring them. You know your child best and you know what is going to help them remain calm.
